General Motors has officially announced that a new 6.2-liter small-block V8 engine will be fitted with the 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ, the top-end version of its full-size sport-utility vehicle.
The new engine is capable of generating 380 horsepower and 417 pound-feet of torque. This is coupled with a six-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission. This engine will be offered in two-wheel-drive versions of the Tahoe LTZ. This engine will provide maximum towing capacity of 7, 900 pounds, a lot higher that that of the standard Tahoe which is only 6, 000 pounds.
The 2008 Tahoe LTZ has also other exciting features such as the StabiliTrak stability control, a touchscreen navigation system, DVD rear-seat entertainment system, “articulating” running boards and polished 20-inch wheels. Moreover, a Chrome Appearance Package is also included with chrome 20-inc wheels, a stainless-steel exhaust tip and chrome recovery hooks that come as optional features.
The new engine will also be offered in the 2008 GMC Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali models. However, prices are yet to be released.
