A first look on the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado
An improved and powered-up mid-sized Chevrolet Colorado truck will soon be hitting the market. Here are the upgrades that patronizers should watch for.
The 2008 Chevrolet Colorado, like the other medium-sized truck lines of Chevrolet, is available in three configurations which are the regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab. All of these cab options can have either a 2WD or 4WD. The six-passenger regular and extended cab trucks have a 6-foot 1-inch pick-up bed, which is geared with taller sides. This enhanced feature of the Chevrolet Colorado will enable users to load up the truck big time because of the deeper storage and higher overall payload. The Colorado Crew Cab, however, has only a 5-foot 1-inch bed length and offers a standard lock. It is good though that no matter what bed length, both have been equipped with two-tier cargo loading and tailgates that are both lockable and easily removable. An upgraded tailgate that can fully open to almost 90 degrees will allow storage of longer items.
Moving over to the truck’s interior power, the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado has been geared with a high-performing engine and suspension to match up its already powerful exterior look. The regular cab and extended cab have a 2.9 L DOHC four-cylinder engine that could deliver up to 185-horsepower and 190 lb.-ft. of torque. The crew cab, however, is made more powerful with a beefed up engine of 3.7 L DOHC five-cylinder with VVT that can deliver up to 242-horsepower and 242 lb.-ft. of torque. With the 2008 Colorado’s powerful engine, the suspension system has to be brought up a notch, thus the trucks are geared with either the rugged Z85 suspension or Z71 off-road suspension. To make the experience with the new Colorado line more comfortable, specifically tuned body mounts has been installed for an interior free of noise and vibration.
Moreover, notable optional equipment are also available such as the remote keyless entry, XM Satellite Radio, self-dimming inside rear view mirror, and heated leather seating. These and everything else will leave Chevrolet truck enthusiasts and owners in awe.
